What does a JD African Safari package include
“On-safari” hunting licenses, trophy fees, daily rate, lodging, meals, guides, skinning, trackers, trophy preparation, and airport pickup. And, most importantly our expert start-to-finish attention to details.
Do you ever offer package specials
We do have specials regularly! Any specials will be disclosed upon your consultation.
How are safaris priced
Safaris are priced in 2 ways: “all-inclusive” or “daily-rate plus”. All inclusive is just as it sounds, with the lodging and animals to be taken included. The daily rate plus is pay as you go depending on what animals are taken. We help you determine the pricing that would be right for you.
Are there other costs involved
We don’t like surprises either! Before booking your safari, we will guide you to other commonly accrued costs (such as travel & gratuities). Our business is to help ensure you are well-prepared.
Is there a buddy discount
Yes, normally a discount on the daily rate is offered for additional hunters.
Can a non-hunter accompany me on my hunt
Yes, observers are always welcome.
I’ve only hunted domestically, can I really go on a safari
Certainly! The first trip to Africa is truly an exciting proposition. The first step is to consult us to ensure a great experience. We can help with preparation, travel guidance, trophy selection, and getting it all back home.
Will I hunt with others I did not come with
No, you will only hunt with your guide and your friends. However in the evenings you may be in the company of other hunters in camp for meal times.
Are laws and policies upheld
Each outfitter and PH is licensed in the countries they are guiding in and must pass rigorous tests to do so. They ensure that you will only hunt available species from a sustainable herd.
Can I use my own taxidermist
Yes, or we can suggest one for you.
Can I rent a rifle
In most cases, yes.
What caliber of rifle will I need
Depends on the species to be hunted- generally a deer rifle is suitable for most plains game (.270-.30-’06, typically).
What kind of vaccinations do I need
As with any travel, you should be current on tetanus, and any other normal vaccinations. Consult your personal physician once the country of travel has been decided for the latest recommendations.
I have a physical limitation, can I go on safari
Yes, in most cases we can accommodate hunters with physical limitations.
Can I use my frequent flyer miles
Yes you can, but you should try to book as early as possible as the seats for the trips to Africa are in high demand. If you plan on travelling with firearms you should also check to be sure that they can be transited through the airports the airline will route you through (this applies to all flights – not just frequent flyer tickets). We can advise you which airports are hunter-friendly.
